The Label Factory is home to Canada’s first JFlex870
RDP digital and Northern Graphic Solutions have sold the first JFlex870 in Canada. The 870 is an IPT digital print conversion system that was recently introduced to the Canadian label printing market.
RDP digital—a division of RDP Marathon of Montreal— engineered and manufactured the 870, which will be installed in February at The Label Factory, one of the country’s largest trade providers. The IPT digital system will turn the customers traditional press into a high-speed digital printing platform using Memjet inkjet technology.
“We've been keeping an eye on developing digital label processes for some time and when we saw the speed and resolution of the JFlex870, we knew for sure digital print had a place in our operation,” Alex Medd, partner at The Label Factory said.
The new installation will increase the The Label Factory’s overall capacity and allow the company to enter the very short run digital label market for the first time.
“We knew The Label Factory had a huge inventory of die tooling and the beauty of the JFlex870 is that it will be mounted on the customer's existing press so additional tooling costs will be minimal,” Jerry Wynia, president of Northern Graphic Solutions said.
Kleinburg, Ontario-based Northern Graphic Solutions supplies presses and converting equipment to web printing markets. The company has agreed to play a key strategic role in product development.
Eric short, president of RDP Marathon also announced that The Label Factory will allow demonstrations of the JFlex870 in action at its plant in Georgetown, Ontario.
