Xerox unveils first of its kind green paper
Engineers and scientists at Xerox have developed a new digital printing paper that helps both the environment and the pocketbook.
While traditional digital printing paper uses only 45% of the tree, Xerox’s high yield business paper utilizes 90% and is produced in a plant that uses hydroelectricity, to help reduce fossil fuel use and cut greenhouse gas emissions.
The paper is considerably lighter than traditional bond paper, making it cheaper to ship and mail, and because it’s high bulk, the chance for show-through is reduced.
Designed to work on a plethora of digital systems, the paper has a brightness rating of 84, and is whitened using a chlorine-free process. As a result, it is best suited for short-run books and temporary business documents that don’t require a long archival shelf life.
