Who you gonna eCall?
eCall, the new Web-based remote service from Heidelberg, promises to make dealing with press-related service issues easier, faster and more cost-efficient. If a problem comes up, the press alerts an operator with the eCall message on the console screen. The operator then decides if and when to send that information to Heidelberg. Data can be sent in under a minute. If the information is passed on, Heidelberg experts propose a solution, and the customer quickly receives a phone call with an answer. It will be available in pilot markets in January 2008 with a phased global market launch scheduled for after drupa.

Baldwin webcatcher

Baldwin Technology expands its WebCatcher series with the WebCatcher S14, offering a catch rate of 90% or higher. Billed as an affordable solution for web breaks, the product prevents damage to plate cylinders, blankets and ink rollers. A motorized, integrated remote-controlled sensor continuously monitors the web during production. If the sensor detects a web break, the pneumatically operated trolley crossbar pushes the straggling web, kept stable by means of an air knife, to a spinning catcher roller. The WebCatcher S14 then guides the stuck paper in front of the dryer, where it can be easily removed after restarting the press.
