Two clear films from Roland

Roland DGA adds two new clear films to its media lineup. Clear Film
(ESM-CSF) is a 3-mil clear polyester film and Clear Film with Adhesive (ESM-CSFP) is a 4-mil clear polyester film with permanent adhesive. Both feature a topcoat for eco-solvent applications and both are compatible with the company’s eco-solvent inkjets including the VersaCamm and Soljet models. The films also work with Roland’s eco-solvent ink, including its newly announced white ink, and can be used for indoor graphics, including rigid acrylic displays, package prototypes and graphics overlays.
Luna now brighter and whiter

Domtar has raised the brightness and whiteness of its Domtar Luna paper. The new Domtar Luna’s 92 GE brightness and 106 CIE whiteness are available in gloss, silk and matte finishes. Luna is commonly used for annual reports, corporate brochures, newsletters, direct mail, posters, catalogues and menus. New digital sizes and standard-stock sizes have also been added. All shipments of the new Domtar Luna feature colour-coded silhouette packaging, to distinguish it in a warehouse or print shop. All skid and roll standard-stock items also have a new sticker for warehouse identification.
New ways to learn about Productolith
Stora Enso’s new product minisite features coated free-sheet Productolith. It includes an overview of the product line with its various basis weights and finishes, and features the educational promotion series, Ed, full of ideas for taking advantage of today’s printing techniques. A new Productolith swatchbook and booklet, Distinctive Impressions, showcases images of the Northern Pacific region of the United States on cover and text papers in gloss, dull and matte finishes.
The thrill of Springhill

International Paper is showcasing Springhill papers with three brochures in its Thrill of Springhill campaign. One demonstration brochure on printing vellum bristol cover with colour inks illustrates how colour inks look on three colour stocks. It shows how to add splash with a few printed examples using fluorescent and opaque inks on colour stocks. This promotion was printed on Springhill vellum bristol cover, 67 lb., white, goldenrod and pink.
Edge Journal uses quiet light

Monadnock Paper Mills has a new edition of Edge Journal, Quiet Light, featuring the nature photography of Ed Riddell. The journal is printed on Monadnock Astrolite PC 100. The paper is made of 100% post-consumer material certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Quiet Light features black-and-white images of the Western U.S. and Canadian landscapes. Printed in 175-line screen, the images vary in tone and are recreated in half tone, duo-tone, tri-tone and four-colour, providing a range of depth, contrast and tonal qualities. The cover is 100 lb. cover weight and the text is 100 lb. text weight.
Look marvelous with NewPage

Looking Marvelous, the newest addition to NewPage’s The True You program showing off its Signature True paper, offers advice on creating great portraits. Besides giving information on various printing techniques using 100 lb. Signature True gloss and dull text, the Looking Marvelous brochure illustrates how to use make-up and lighting for portraits. At thetrueyou.com website designers are invited to submit a self portrait along with an explanation of what they think their picture communicates. A Ph.D expert analyzes the photo and explains what their portrait really says about them. As part of the campaign, NewPage is also offering four video tutorials on selecting the right photographer, the importance of makeup, lighting techniques and photo editing.
Appleton

Tru-Tech is the newest addition to Appleton’s durables product line. Its swatchbook has a translucent wrapper invitation to “tear here.” However the wrapper stock, Tru-Tech 3065 Translucent, doesn’t tear, proving it’s strong enough to handle demanding applications. The Tru-Tech line has 10 grades, each featuring a paper-film-paper construction and a printing quality similar to paper. Tru-Tech can handle multiple colour printing, embossing, foil stamping, varnish, UV coating, die cutting and perforating with no special inks, adhesives or equipment required. The Tru-Tech line includes Uncoated, Coated, Translucent, Lite, and Ultra.
