Dylan the cougar is featured in the new campaign from Weyerhaeuser for Cougar Opaque, which is expanding with a new 160 lb. double-thick cover in white and natural text, cover weights, and smooth and vellum finishes. Cougar Opaque is the economic alternative to higher-priced text and cover sheets. The insert ads use four-colour process with both conventional and UV inks, match colours, variable line screens, raised varnish, dot-for-dot dull varnish, embossing and foil stamping to show how the paper handles various post-press techniques.

Book of books shows off Smart Papers

At 425 pages, Smart Papers’ The Book of Books is not only a hard-cover, information resource for designers, it is also a print demonstration of the company’s Carnival Writing, Text and Cover line. The book, intended as a keepsake for graphic professionals, features more than 300 of photographer Rodney Smith’s images, displaying the paper’s tritone image reproduction. Raise a glass for new wine label paper

NovaSet is a new label paper from the Global Specialty Papers Group of Stora Enso for beverages such as wine, champagne, spirits, mineral waters and soft drinks. The paper is an 80 gsm high-white, natural matte that offers wet strength, alkali resistance and high wet opacity. Finishing possibilities include bronzing and hot-foil embossing and four embossing patterns. As well, it can be used to produce wet-glue or self-adhesive labels. Stora Enso now offers five label papers—VivaSet, MatisSet, NovaSet, ArtiSet and SupreCote WS—each available in up to six surface structures.
