Domtar asks Why Paper? with latest printed promo
Domtar asks the question, “Why Paper?” with its newest promotion. Printed on Lynx opaque, the series of four books all deal with different aspects relating to paper. Cascades overhauls its recycled fine papers family
Cascades Fine Paper in Quebec has renamed and enhanced some of the papers in its recycled line and is showing them off in a new swatch book. Now FSC certified, Rolland Opaque30, Rolland and Rolland ST30 all contain 30% de-inked post-industrial fibre, and are made in Canada using biogas energy. In other Cascades news, operations at the Scierie Lemay mill in Lac-Saint-Jean, Que., were curtailed in late November indefinitely due to the softwood lumber market and profitability concerns. More than 80 employees were affected by the shutdown. Cascades also announced that it’s in talks to sell some assets of Scierie Lemay to Produits Forestier Arbec s.e.n.c.

Unisource keeping it simple with Starbrite Opaque promotion

Fraser Papers announce price increases
The prices of several Fraser Papers’ specialty packaging and printing grades increased. On average, prices jumped 6% and affected thermal base papers, packaging products and pressure sensitive papers. Brian McAlary, vice-president of sales and marketing says the increase was necessary due to rising raw material and energy costs.

Mohawk rewarded for green lifestyle
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized Mohawk Fine Papers with a 2007 Green Power Leadership award at a reception earlier this year. The award was presented during the 12th Annual National Renewable Energy Marketing Conference in Philadelphia, and recognizes green power buyers for advancing the green power market. Mohawk is also making it easier for customers to locate the right paper with its new Eco*Guide, which describes each Mohawk line and its environmental characteristics. The guide includes a handy reference chart with information on papers that are FSC, Green Seal, and Green-e certified.
